This is a live in-person course at CCNM’s Toronto Campus and is designed to provide students with the knowledge, theory, protocols, and practice of Facial Acupuncture. Also known as Cosmetic Acupuncture, Michelle Gellis’s classes and recorded webinars will provide you with the skills to offer a gentle, natural method for your patients to rejuvenate and refresh their appearance. It can also be used to help your patients who suffered from stroke, TMJ, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Bell’s Palsy, MS and other facial conditions. 

Eligibility
Open to licensed healthcare professionals trained in acupuncture (e.g., NDs, acupuncturists).
Valid license and liability insurance required.

Learning objectives:

  1. To assess a patient for contraindications to facial acupuncture, facial cupping and facial gua sha.
  2. To design a treatment plan for a facial acupuncture patient.
  3. To perform a facial acupuncture treatment including any advanced techniques.

Michelle Gellis, Author, AP, LAc, MAc DiplAc

Michelle Gellis is a Licensed Acupuncture Physician and Author. She is currently a Doctoral Faculty at Yo San University (Los Angeles), and she is former Faculty and Clinic Supervisor at the Maryland University of Integrative Health (2005–2019). Michelle teaches facial acupuncture classes internationally and has been published in prominent acupuncture publications such as the Journal of Chinese Medicine.
Throughout her career, Michelle has been invited to lecture by numerous prestigious national and international organizations including Pacific Symposium, The Florida State Oriental Medical Association, The Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (UK), China Books (AU), and the American Acupuncture Council. She brings a vibrant teaching style and a depth of expertise in facial and cosmetic acupuncture, encompassing safety, ethics, theory, history, point location, and precision needling techniques.
Her groundbreaking book, Treating the Face: A Comprehensive Guide for Acupuncturists and Health Professionals, has received outstanding reviews from respected scholars, colleagues, and leaders in the field, including endorsements from The Journal of Chinese Medicine, faculty at top acupuncture schools, and internationally recognized experts. Day 1: Saturday July 25, 2026 (9:00 am-6:00 pm EST)

  • Cosmetic Acupuncture (Full day of practice)

Day 2: Sunday July 26, 2026 (9:00 am-6:00 pm EST)

  • Review cupping Gua sha (demo)
  • Practice facial cupping (and Gua sha)
  • Review advanced techniques (demo)
  • Practice advanced techniques
  • Micro-needling (demo)*

*due to health Canada regulations there will be no micro-needling practical

Prerequisites:

This course is ONLY open to naturopathic doctors, licensed acupuncturists or practitioners licensed to practice acupuncture.

Registration includes recorded modules (lifetime accessand quizzes, which must be completed in advance in order to participate in the scheduled July 25-26 hands-on class.

  • Module 1: Patient Intake, Diagnosis and Contraindications (2.5 hours)
  • Module 2: Theory and Protocols (3.5 hours)
  • Module 3: Face Reading, Microneedling and Skincare (6 hours) (Optional Viewing)
  • Module 4: Facial Rejuvenation Cupping, Gua Sha and Derma Roller (3.5 hours)
  • Module 5: Advanced Protocols in Facial Acupuncture (5 hours)

NCCAOM, CA, TX or FL credits for the recordings can be purchased through Michelle Gellis for an additional $120 USD.

Supplies:

  • Needles used during the course will be included in the course fee.
  • Purchase of Michelle's Book: Treating the Face a Comprehensive Guide for Acupuncturists and Health Professionals is optional but recommended. This book can be purchased through Eastern Currents.
