This brief overview of allopathic medications for depression and anxiety primes the naturopathic physician to better assist the patient who wishes to either utilize or cease use of psychiatric medications. We will specifically look at the SSRI and SNRI class of medications, as well as anxiolytics such as benzodiazapines and antihypertensives. We will cover appropriate use, naturopathic considerations, side effect profiles, and intra-class comparisons.
